A one-on-one with Juan Breiding: His Journey in the Travel Industry

A Brief Coffee Table Chat on His Journey in the Travel Industry

A one-on-one with Juan Guillermo Breiding

What was your biggest early influence that sparked your desire to travel?

My biggest influence on travel came through sports. From a young age, as a member of the national tennis team, I toured the Americas, competing in various cities. Though I didn’t always have the time to explore each place deeply, the journeys from airports to hotels and tennis clubs gave me glimpses of diverse cultures and landscapes. These experiences ignited a passion for discovering new places. What truly captivated me was the sense of leaving behind any problems and becoming a new person in a new place. Starting with a clean slate in every new destination gave me a profound sense of “personal freedom” that is incredibly powerful and has fueled my love for travel ever since.

What was the most important turning point in your professional travel career?

Discovering nature through the hotels I worked for was a pivotal moment. Witnessing sunrises and sunsets, encountering wild animals, and being surrounded by the serene beauty of deserts, forests, and oceans deeply moved me. This connection with nature is incredibly beautiful and powerful. As a professional in the travel industry, I find immense joy in seeing other travelers experience these same awe-inspiring moments. It is priceless to see guests having the time of their lives. Travel is a transformative force that enhances our lives, offering us the chance to truly live and enjoy the world’s wonders.

How has your approach to travel evolved over the years?

Over the years, my travel preferences have shifted from urban to more natural and adventurous experiences. However, I still seek comfort in my adventures. I continue to relish the vibrancy of great cities like Berlin, with its rich cultural history. But nothing compares to the tranquility of nature. There’s an unmatched joy in embarking on a long trek and returning to a cozy lodge or hotel, free of distractions, with excellent food and wine. Additionally, I’ve come to appreciate the importance of continual learning and exposure to situations that stretch the mind. This blend of adventure, comfort, and personal growth creates the perfect travel experience for me.
